A self-described 'East West Kitchen',
Muze Restaurant made its delicious debut this week at the luxe
Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC hotel.
Assuming the space formerly occupied by Sou'Wester, the new all-day dining outlet offers 'approachable cuisine' that blends locally sourced ingredients with flavors from Southeast Asia (in keeping with the property's Oriental heritage).
To such an end, the menu features an international collection of familiar and flavorful dishes -- each presented with a distinctive Asian-inspired twist. A
Ham and Cheese sandwich comes topped with wasabi aioli, for example, and a
Seaweed Salad can be found next to a classic
Caesar.
Chef de Cuisine Mark McDonnell joined the Mandarin's culinary team back in September and, under the direction of Executive Chef Didier Pouzier, the two toques quickly set about crafting a diverse menu for Muze. Washington foodies might, of course, recognize McDonnell from his earlier tenure at famed Rogue 24, where he also served as Chef de Cuisine.
