BETHESDA, Md. -- It’s a serious problem that has plagued generations. We’re referring, of course, to metamfiezomaiophobia (otherwise known as a fear of mimes). And such an affliction was but one of the topics of discussion at Tuesday night’s D.C. launch party for best-selling author
Jill Kargman’s new memoir:
Sometimes I Feel Like a Nut: Essays & Observations.
Hosted by a handful of Washington movers-and-shakers, including
Susanna Quinn,
Sharon Bradley,
Mary Haft,
Stacy Kerr,
Norah O’Donnell, the invitation-only fete was held inside the fashionable walls of Bethesda Row’s upscale
Ginger boutique.
While exchanging colorful anecdotes with guests, Jill graciously took the time to sign copies of her latest book, the subject of which blends relatable elements of her everyday life, including motherhood, love, New York City life, and, naturally, mimes.
Through it all, readers discover how Jill used humor and her “nuttiness” to beat cancer at the age of 35 and emerge a stronger person as a result.
While primarily a book party, attendees had a difficult time last night not trying on some of the gorgeous clothing and accessories lining the walls and racks at Ginger.
And always a gracious host, owner
Gretchen Hitchner ensured that everyone left with a complimentary gift bag, featuring a $25 gift certificate to the store, a week-long gym membership to
Equinox, a shiny tube of lip gloss courtesy of
stila cosmetics, plenty of swag highlighting the upcoming
District Sample Sale, and a sampling of
popchips and
Almond Joy treats for good measure.
Get it? Because sometimes you feel like a nut! A clever end to a clever evening.
