NORTHWEST -- Sure,
Lady Gaga might have been
performing at the Verizon Center a few blocks away, but the District’s real singing talent was to be found at
Hudson Restaurant & Lounge on Thursday evening.
There, some of the city’s most …um… enthusiastic singers (and occasional dancers) gathered to help

Rachel DeMita raise funds for the Washington Humane Society, as part of her campaign to walk the runway during this year’s
sure-to-sellout benefit show.
Each guest’s $20 door donation bought him/her a complimentary beaded necklace, a specialty cocktail at the bar (drinks included a “Root Beer Float” complete with vanilla infused vodka, a “Dream a Little Dreamsickle” that blended fresh squeezed orange juice with orange and vanilla vodka, and a rum-based “Lime Infused Cuba Libre”), and the right to feast on a lavish buffet stocked with everything from gourmet pizzas to juicy mini-burgers to platters of tasty pastries courtesy of
Executive Chef Demetrio Zavala.
Purple party balloons and streamers adorned the restaurant’s private dining room, where a pop-up karaoke station (aka the venue’s GLEEclub) had been setup and attendees were invited to show-off their inner Gaga. Rachel helped get the ball rolling with a Spice Girls-inspired performance, although songs throughout the night spanned all genres of music.
Indeed, we spotted no poker faces among the crowd last night; only happy ones…
