GEORGETOWN -- Some of us are born with the “luck ‘o the Irish” coursing through our veins. Most, however, aren’t blessed with such a birthright and, as a result, must sometimes lean on others during particularly trying times.
Fortunately for those not born to Irish heritage, organizations like
Luke’s Wings exist that help channel a little “green fortune” to the needy around St. Patrick’s Day.
And such was the case on Thursday night as the wounded warrior support organization held its most recent fundraiser inside the (temporarily) green-tinged walls of Cady’s Alley’s
L2 Lounge.
L2 Lounge’s crafty mixologists had created a series of themed specialty cocktails for the occasion, including a tasty Jameson Julep.
A $20 suggested door donation bought guests access to a “Guinness Garden” of refreshments (in addition to the lounge’s standard martini and specialty drink bars), a kissing booth (just because), and an end-of-night raffle for the chance at a clean bar tab.
One lucky guest walked away with a completely clean bar tab for the evening.
All proceeds from the night were used to fly the father of a wounded soldier to his son’s bedside at
Walter Reed Army Medical Center to assist him in his post-surgery recovery.
A more altruistic pot of gold as we’ve ever seen….
