The Guest List:
NORTHWEST -- From the rear wall backlit to highlight the words of the Emancipation Proclamation to the lacquered floor fitted with more than 500,000 pennies to the presidential portraiture lining the dining room, the soon-to-open Lincoln restaurant embraces its namesake with enthusiasm and aplomb.

A backlit reading of the Emancipation Proclamation anchors Lincoln’s rear wall.

Of course, the gifted artist behind the literally floor-to-ceiling interior designs found at 1110 Vermont Avenue, NW is Maggie O’Neill, creative director and owner of D.C.-based O’Neill Studios.

The artist behind it all, Maggie O’Neill, and her proud father.

A longtime friend and collaborator of Lincoln and Hudson owner Alan Popovsky, Maggie opened up their latest co-creation to friends and family last week for a private viewing event.

Guests were invited to explore virtually every nook and cranny (floors, walls, storage areas, and even bathrooms included) of what is sure to become one of the city’s newest hotspots, with the O’Neill Studios team as their guide.

Friends and family offered-up a thunderous volley of applause as Maggie thanked everyone for their support.

The “Alice In Wonderland Wingback Chair” served as a surefire crowd favorite with its 9-foot tall stature intended to communicate the grandeur of the Lincoln Memorial chair. Tufted with shiny copper pennies as nailheads, the “chair” will serve as a special VIP booth for smaller parties when the restaurant opens.

Guests happily jumped down the rabbit hole in the Alice In Wonderland Wingback Chair.

Indeed, the entire venue is filled with so many clever and entertaining works of art, it was almost possible for guests to forget that they were inside a restaurant! Almost….

Executive Chef Demetrio Zavala and his kitchen and bar teams kept plate-after-plate of tasty comfort food circulating about and guests emptied them almost as soon as they hit the floor.

Come the restaurant’s opening in April, it’s pretty clear that Washington will now have two iconic Lincoln memorials….
