MCLEAN, Va. -- With less than a week to go before the fifth annual
Fashion for Paws runway show at the
National Building Museum, the District’s
most fashionable fundraiser has already raised more than $425,000 and is closing in fast on its goal of $490,000 (
donate).
In order to raise such a tremendous amount of money, the non-profit has relied on the generous support of more than 80 contending models (and an army of behind-the-scenes volunteers) over the past few weeks. And those individuals who managed to achieve the herculean task of each raising $3,000 will be rewarded for their hard work with a coveted spot on the runway (models who raised less than their goal were still thanked with complimentary VIP tickets and a special bracelet).
Naturally, with any runway show, the fashion is front and center and over the next week dozens of models will descend upon the posh halls of
Tysons Galleria to be fitted with their respective outfits for Saturday’s benefit.
As a way of showing their support for Fashion for Paws and the Washington Humane Society, award-winning chef and culinary icon
Michel Richard and Chef de Cuisine
Levi Mezick have prepared a temporary “model friendly” prix fixe luncheon menu at the recently opened
Michel.
Chef Michel Richard is flanked by Fashion for Paws models Lauri Tamney, Stef Woods, and Committee Co-Chair Wendy Gordon -- all featuring the latest fashions from designer Karen Millen.
Chef Richard’s latest restaurant, Michel is located inside The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner, directly adjacent to the Galleria. And from now through April 8th, lucky (and dog-loving) guests will be treated to a special three-course menu for a scant $21.
Choices include Chicken Soup with Herb Ravioli or a green salad to start out, Salmon with Lentils and Shallot Dressing or a Chicken Goat Cheese Caesar Salad with Avocado as an entrée, and either a plate of Orange/Pear/Coconut Mousse or a fruit sorbet tasting for dessert.

And the tastiest part of it all? A percentage of the profits from the menu will benefit The Washington Humane Society directly. After all, even models have to eat…
