NORTHEAST -- In an event that sounded more like a scene from a comic book or movie,
The Toxic Avenger transformed the Smithsonian institution’s
National Postal Museumhttp://www.postalmuseum.si.edu/ into a makeshift nightclub late Friday evening.
The Toxic Avenger himself…
We’re referring of course to the self-described Parisian “electro thrash” DJ/producer,
The Toxic Avenger (aka Simon DeLacroix), and not the campy
horror movie character. And the dance party in question was the closing celebration of the annual
Francophonie Cultural Festival: a series of cultural activities that reflect the diversity of the francophone world and are designed to improve cross-cultural understanding between Washingtonians and the French-speaking world.
A popular event, the festival’s “Discotheque night” invited area residents to sample a variety of French-tinged bites and beverages while grooving to a distinct house beat, with the museum’s exhibits serving as a unique backdrop.
Belgium-based brewery
Stella Artois served-up complimentary bottles of beer, while specialty cocktails laced with Haitian rum (another French-speaking country) were readily made available to attendees.
For those guests looking for a quieter place to talk than the raucous lobby-turned-rave space, the museum’s lower level offered a more tranquil environment, including access to some of the award-winning exhibits.

C'était une soirée magnifique!
