U STREET -- For those Washingtonian restauranteurs (sorry general public) who walk into their local
Trader Joe’s or
Whole Foods and think to themselves, “Gee, I wish I had a bigger selection of food and drink from which to choose”, take heed! Help is on the way…
From July 10th through 12th, the
Summer Fancy Food Show will be taking the Capitol by sweet and savory storm at the
Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Now in its 57th year, the largest marketplace for specialty foods and beverages in North America will attract 2,400 different exhibitors from 80+ countries, with more than 180,000 different items being presented.
Perrier water? Dove Bars? Terra Chips? Yup, they all started here.
popchips! too…
And on Wednesday night, members of the press gathered at 14th Street’s
Cork Market & Tasting Room for an intimate preview party of the summer deliciousness.
A sampling of exhibitors and regional
sofi Awards finalists, including
Blue Crab Bay,
Route 11 Potato Chips,
Todd’s DIRT Seasonings, and
Bone Doctors’ BBQ Sauce, were in attendance to dole out samples and talk about the show.
Perhaps most notable of all, however, was the announcement that more than 100,000 pounds of food and beverage will be donated by exhibitors this year to area residents in need, through a partnership with
D.C. Central Kitchen.
A real life fancy feast!
