NORTHWEST -- Roughly two hundred or so self-appointed “bitches” for the day took over L Street’s RAMMY Award-nominated
RIS restaurant on Sunday afternoon, for Washington-based website
Bitches Who Brunch’s inaugural gathering.
A 'bitchy' toast...
A rather appropriate brunch-time affair, the cocktail-style party provided guests with bottomless glasses of mimosas (or orange juice/beer combinations for those so inclined) while RIS’ prim wait staff circulated plates of gourmet small dishes.
And while everyone clearly enjoyed the relaxed conversation and soundtrack delivered by
DJ Raha Wala, the feature attraction of the event was the half hour-long fashion show featuring styles from hybrid SoHo/DC boutique
Rue 14 and upscale fashion chain
South Moon Under.

Thirteen well-know local personalities from all walks of life, including
Metrocurean foodie founder
Amanda McClements,
DC Magazine rainmaker
Lindsey Becker, and Congressional Communications Director
Maureen Shanahan, strutted their stuff down a makeshift red-carpeted runway for the event, with a portion of ticket sales benefiting the urban/environmental nonprofit known as
Farm To School.

The organization connects schools and local farms with the objectives of serving healthy meals in school cafeterias, improving student nutrition, providing agriculture, health and nutrition education opportunities, and supporting local and regional farmers.
After the show, attendees were treated to a special book signing session with
Helena Andrews, author of
Bitch Is The New Black, goodie bags filled with plenty of swag, and, naturally, plenty of mimosa refills.

Bitch, please…do host another brunch soon!
