NORTHWEST -- Coming on the heels of two much talked about, exclusive launch parties earlier in the week, including a business-oriented affair at just-opened
Rogue 24 and a
VIP garden soiree at Halycon House,
Gilt City D.C. capped its first week in the District, with an intimate cocktail party on the W Washington, D.C. hotel’s prized
P.O.V rooftop terrace.
While the locally-minded luxury deal service still has technically yet to make its public debut (a formal launch is scheduled for August 1st), avid fans of parent company’s
Gilt Groupe were nevertheless invited to take advantage of a few early offers this week.
Thursday night’s cocktail party represented the latest in a string of such preview deals and was representative of the kind of experience Gilt City will offer Washingtonians moving forward.
Here’s how it worked: $20 bought a limited (first come, first serve) number of shoppers admission to an exclusive reception featuring an open bar (beer, wine, soda), signature strawberry lemonade cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres from
J&G Steakhouse, and access to an exclusive ‘Gilty Pleasure Bar’, behind which a P.O.V bartender made custom cocktails based on specific guests’ personalities and preferences.
The latter was the evening’s signature feature and a hallmark of the Gilt City brand. The company seeks to transcend traditional deal-based offerings (e.g., here’s a great price on X) and instead find ways to combine attractive prices with an exclusive experience of sorts.
And judging by the line snaking around the ‘Pleasure Bar’, in comparison to the handful of guests at the open bar, Gilt City D.C. Curator
Marissa Schneider is off to an impressive start! Consider us Gilty as charged…
