TYSONS CORNER, Va. -- While the District proper might have stolen the spotlight when it came to Fashion’s Night Out with a
blowout block party in Georgetown and a
jazzy celebration at
Neiman Marcus of Mazza Gallerie, last week it was
Tysons Galleria’s turn to stylishly shine with its signature annual ‘All Access’ fashion and trend event.
A three-day affair designed to allow shoppers to engage with the best of the Fall/Winter 2011/2012 season collections at various stores inside the posh Northern Virginia mall, this year’s festivities began with an engaging panel on Thursday evening featuring
Washington Post Fashion Washington Editor-in-Chief
Jennifer Barger, Ogilvy Senior Veep
Rohit Bhargava, The Luxury Marketing Council founder
Gregory Furman, and Gilt Groupe ‘Jetsetter’
Colin Kroll, that discussed today’s luxury business in the context of technology, innovation, and the global consumer.
But the definitive kickoff to this year’s All Access event was Friday evening’s red-carpeted runway presentation hosted by
Saks Fifth Avenue benefiting the
Make-A-Wish Foundation. Hosted by over a dozen of the city’s most stylish trendsetters, the 30-min show was curated by the store’s own Dress Collections Buyer,
Kelcye Ball, and packed all three floors of Tysons Galleria with curious spectators.
The shopping fun then carried-over into Saturday, with a day-long schedule full of in-store events throughout the mall, such as trunk shows, designer and celebrity appearances, branded lounges, and couture experiences (including a return of the always popular
ArtJamz Stylista Zone and
Capitol File Lounge).
After Friday’s runway show, guests were treated to a catered champagne after party on the third floor of Saks.
A fabulous fashion frenzy to be sure!
