PENN QUARTER -- With formerly longtime WUSA9 broadcast journalist
Angie Goff comfortably ensconced behind the weekend morning desk as
NBC Washington’s newest anchor, a handful of friends and fellow local media notables banded together on Sunday afternoon for a casual congratulatory luncheon.
Held inside one of the private dining rooms of
Carmine’s Washington, D.C. location, the end-of-weekend affair embraced the venue’s legendary reputation for ‘family-style’ Italian hospitality with gusto.
Indeed, the afternoon’s menu boasted everything from a roasted peppers with mozzarella salad to spaghetti and meatballs to eggplant parmigiana to a tasty salmon platter. And much to the delight of the lunch’s younger guests, the meal was capped by the arrival of the restaurant’s enormous tiramisu and ‘Titanic’ desserts.
Carmine’s of Penn Quarter was, of course, just
recently honored as the District’s “Power Spot of the Year” and Sunday’s gathering only served to further reinforce such a namesake.
Among the guests in attendance were fellow media notables
Andrea Roane,
Tommy McFLY,
Rebecca Cooper,
John Schriffen,
Rick Yarborough,
Kelly Collis,
Dannia Hakki, and, naturally, Angie’s husband
Robert Ellis and their adorable daughter
Adora.
One big happy (and full) family!
