Couture/Cuisine Unlocked At Saks Chevy Chase 2011 ‘Key To The Cure’ Kick-Off Party!

CHEVY CHASE, Md. -- With the façade of its considerable 125,000-squarefoot footprint bathed in a sea of pink (topped-off with a giant white ribbon no less), Saks Fifth Avenue Chevy Chase flung open its doors to hundreds of well-intentioned shoppers on Thursday night, to fete the launch of its 2011 ‘Key To The Cure’ celebration.

A charity shopping weekend taking place at Saks stores throughout the country between now and Sunday, October 23, Key To The Cure is both a fundraising and awareness event designed to put a spotlight on cancer treatment and research.

Yesterday’s kick-off party saw many Washingtonians don a supportive shade of pink on various combinations of dresses, ties, skirts, blouses, and shoes.

They were then treated to live music, complimentary beauty treatments, floral presentations, signature cocktails courtesy of Voli Light Vodka, and food tastings from close to two dozen of the city’s top restaurants and eateries, including Lincoln Restaurant, Firefly, 42-degrees Catering, and, of course, Georgetown Cupcake.

popchips! had even setup a green screen-powered photobooth, complete with playful signs and toy props, on the store’s third floor where guest could upload fun pictures directly from the event to Facebook and Twitter.

Perhaps the highlight of the night, however, was the chance for guests to try their chance at unlocking the store’s coveted prize vault, with featured everything from wine tastings and accessories to couture from the likes of Prada, Chanel, and Thierry Mugler.

A limited-edition Key To The Cure t-shirt designed by Elie Tahari was also available for purchase for $35, with 100% of the purchase price of each shirt sold donated to local charity partners.

Sadly, locksmiths won’t be this en vogue for another year!
