NORTHWEST -- Already known for its chic interior and prized views overlooking the White House and the city's other historic monuments, the
W Washington, D.C. hotel underwent an even more elaborate decorative remodeling on Saturday evening, for its decidedly retro New Year’s Eve soiree.
Mischievously titled ‘Pinstripes & Pinups’, the end-of-year blowout bash transformed the property into an authentic burlesque cocktail club, complete with a trio of svelte and sexy dancers, shadow boxes, live DJs, and, naturally, plenty of champagne.
Guests were invited to ‘step back in time’ during the event, which began with a two-hour premium open bar at 8:00pm and lasted well past 3:00am.
A series of DJs strategically positioned both in the hotel’s ground-level ‘Living Room’ area and inside P.O.V’s rooftop lounge ensured that a lively soundtrack enveloped visitors the second they arrived and kept them energized until the very end.
For those revelers who were more interested in jamming to a live band, the W had enlisted D.C.-based
Gonzo’s Nose to take over the top floor’s ‘Altitude’ ballroom, complete with its own bar, VIP seating, and a crowded dance floor.
While Saturday night’s guest list boasted everyone from socialites to business executives to movie directors, including
Washington Nationals General Manager and Executive Vice President
Mike Rizzo, it was the two couples who used the occasion to become engaged that clearly stole the spotlight.
