DUPONT CIRCLE -- Not content with selling out a whole string of shows at the
9:30 Club this week, GRAMMY Award-nominated
Thievery Corporation also invited fans to join them for a pre-concert party Thursday night at the
Renaissance Dupont Circle hotel.
A part of the Renaissance hotel chain’s popular RLife LIVE performance series, last night’s bash saw over a hundred fans and friends descend upon the lobby lounge of the Dupont location for specially priced cocktails and bites, in addition to a complimentary two-hour long DJ set.
DJ Pleasuremaker took the musical reigns at 6:00pm and steadily revved the crowd up. But the party didn’t really take off until just after 7:00pm when Thievery’s
Eric Hilton and
Rob Garza arrived amidst a sea of flashbulbs and photo requests.
While everyone was invited to attend the pre-concert party, ticketholders to the show that was to follow at the 9:30 Club were also rewarded with signed copies of the group’s latest CD.
And by evening’s end, it was pretty easy to understand why the District’s music community really is as thick as thieves...
