SOUTHEAST -- America’s favorite pastime received an always fashionable dose of charity and patriotism on Saturday evening, as the wounded warrior support non-profit known as
Luke’s Wings held its fourth annual runway show inside the Stars and Stripes Club at
Nationals Park.
Creatively titled ‘Fashion Takes Flight’, the night saw a group of real life servicemen and servicewomen partner with professional models from
THE Artist Agency, with all proceeds from the event benefiting the charity’s various transportation assistance programs for wounded soldiers and their families.
Dozens of well-known brands made a catwalk appearance during the show, thanks to the support of a cadre of popular D.C.-based retailers, including Ella Rue, Streets of Georgetown, Walish Gooshe (the opening look), and Donovan England.
DJ Neekola ensured that the benefit was brimming with energy, from the VIP reception that began at 7:00p.m. to the runway show itself. And guests were treated to a variety of open bars, passed ballpark bites, a prop-laden photo booth, and even private tours of the stadium itself.
The evening was emceed by ABC 7
Let’s Talk Live TV host/journalist
Natasha Barrett, who served a similar role last year and couldn’t wait for the chance to volunteer again.
A generous $20,000 donation from
Kazi Investment Group’s
Bash Kazi paid for the entire benefit itself, thereby ensuring Luke’s Wings a sizeable financial influx from this year’s Fashion Takes Flight show.
Talking about hitting it out of the ballpark!
