NORTHWEST -- For the ninth consecutive year, hundreds of the District’s rising young professionals broke out their finest threads on Friday evening in support of
So Others Might Eat (SOME), for the annual black tie optional benefit known as the SOME Jr. Gala.
Much like
last year’s crowded affair, the 2012 incarnation of this fundraising event was held inside the stately grand hallways of the
Corcoran Gallery of Art and attracted a dapper mix of D.C. twenty and thirtysomethings.
Guests were treated to a series of live performances on the museum’s ground level (which had been temporarily transformed into a makeshift dance floor) by soul and Motown variety band
The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue. All the while, a variety of open bars and buffet tables on both floors ensured no one left hungry or thirsty.
Proceeds from the night, which was underwritten chiefly by locally-based private equity powerhouse firm
The Carlyle Group, former Secretary of the Navy
John Howard Dalton, and his wife,
Margaret Dalton, will be used to help support the residents of SOME’s Griffin House, a brand new long-term affordable housing program for families and single adults that will open this spring.
SOME was founded in 1970 with the simple goal of helping feed Washington’s destitute citizens and has since grown to include affordable housing, job training, substance abuse, and healthcare initiatives.
Because SOMEtimes, everyone can use a helping hand…
