GEORGETOWN -- Wednesday evening saw a familiar rhythmic beat reverberating from inside the walls of Georgetown hotspot
George. But unlike a typical weekend night, yesterday’s pulsating sounds emanated not from a crowded DJ booth, but rather from a sea of power tools, as the restaurant/tavern/club put the finishing touches on its much talked about ‘skybox’ area.
The newly constructed elevated section of the space is immediately visible to guests upon arrival, as they make their way through George’s main hallway entrance. The skybox replaces the grouping of clubby armchairs that formerly greeted patrons and has served as an amusing prop of sorts over the years during holiday parties.
The creation of the skybox has been in the planning stages with George’s owners for months and fulfills their original vision to provide customers with more ‘nooks and crannies’ that will grant them some temporary privacy amidst George’s bustling main bar area and dance floor.
The skybox will make its debut tonight during a special date auction benefiting the
Fashion for Paws program of the Washington Humane Society. Later in the evening, members of the D.C.-based professional, civic, and social organization known as
The Madison will take over the newly christened area for the after party to their annual bash welcoming new members.
Skybox first. GDF second.
