NORTHWEST -- Regular passers-by of the K Street foodie mainstay formerly known as Lima Restaurant wouldn’t have been surprised to find a handful of exotic sports cars parked out front on Wednesday night. But the well-dressed guests inside were tasting and toasting a much difference venue, as
Fujimar formerly opened its kimono as a completely reinvented and redesigned culinary destination.
Chef Raynold Mendizabal
Now boasting an entirely new menu courtesy of
Chef Raynold Mendizabal, the revamped eatery pairs Asian and Latino influences, to create dishes that run the gamut from seasoned brussels sprouts to ceviche and sushi made with Tasmanian King Salmon. Ingredients are meticulously selected to ensure the highest standards of both taste and sustainability, with the rich flavors to prove it.
Much as the food has benefited from a hefty dose of inventiveness with the rebranding, so too has the cocktail menu, which mixologists
Ari Wilder and
Micah Wilder have infused with plenty of tasty new additions, including a variety of specialty drinks as well as a diverse artisanal wine list.
The Wilder brothers are the same mixology team behind many of the city’s other popular restaurants and bars, including the critically praised
Black Jack and happy hour favorite
Barcode.
And all of what Fujimar has to offer the city’s gourmands was on full display yesterday for the evening’s exclusive preview party. Business leaders, social tastemakers, and professional athletes alike could be spotted milling about the building’s seductively lit third floor (the two lower floors will continue to house the late night hotspot known as Lima Lounge) all throughout the event.

Owner
Masoud Aboughaddaeh was also ever-present as he deftly maneuvered between tables crowded with models, reporters, longtime customers, and, of course, plenty of friends and family – always eager to offer a gracious handshake or a warm hug.
Bottom line, Washingtonians no longer have to go all the way to Lima for a great meal!
