NORTHWEST -- Plenty of both on-air and off-air talent, as well as a healthy mix of friends, crowded the back rooms of
Carmine’s on Thursday evening, as the popular ‘family style’ Italian eatery played host to a relaxed party in honor of recently hired ABC7 news anchor
Steve Chenevey.
Fellow WJLA morning and afternoon news co-host
Cynne Simpson, as well as much admired evening news anchor
Leon Harris, were but two of the well known Washington faces in attendance at the celebration, which included a full buffet spread of Carmine’s signature menu items.
As an Emmy Award-winning morning news anchor for FOX5 since 2003, Chenevey is already well known among the District’s newshounds. And his new gig on both the Good Morning Washington and noon news programs are but the latest entries on a broadcast career that first began in Pittsburgh over a decade ago.
“I have only one goal and that is to make Good Morning Washington the #1 place for morning news in Washington, D.C.,” Chenevey said. “I'm looking forward to interacting with new viewers, and I want them to know that I value their feedback, that we value their viewership, and that we're here for them as their go-to news station every morning."
Apparently, ‘family style’ applies not just to hearty Italian fare…
