GEORGETOWN -- Young Washington got decidedly INNvolved late Saturday evening, as the
Young Ambassadors Council of
The Children’s Inn at NIH held its inaugural annual fundraiser on the Georgetown waterfront.
Spanning the entire lower level of the
House of Sweden bordering the Potomac, the elegant benefit invited the city’s twenty, thirty, and forty-somethings to mingle, sip cocktails, and dance the night away – all while supporting The Inn’s mission of providing “A Place Like Home” for seriously ill children participating in leading-edge medical research at the National Institutes of Health.
No stranger to some of the District’s best parties, the locally-based
Winn Brothers Band had been enlisted to entertain the crowd of young benefactors who turned-out for the occasion, with a continuous string of covers spanning everything from Motown to classic rock to ‘80s hits.
Since it first opened its doors in June of 1990, more than 10,000 children and their families have made some 50,000+ visits to The Inn. Patients travel to the NIH because conventional treatments have proven insufficient in combating their illnesses. And the friendly and inviting nature of The Inn is designed to serve as a welcome alternative to the potential isolation provided by the typical hotel room.
Are you INN, D.C.?
