DUPONT CIRCLE -- Infusing the organization’s trademark blue blazer style with a hefty dose of green,
The Capital Club held its annual ‘Shamrock Soiree’ party in Dupont Circle on Friday evening, in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day.
Inviting guests to don their finest ‘Euro Leprechaun’ attire (the sartorial details of this look are still up for debate), the late night bash served as one of the organization’s handful of signature events for 2012.
While in prior years the Irish-tinged celebration has been held at places as varied as Georgetown’s Paper Moon and downtown’s K Street Lounge and Café Asia, this year’s soiree brought the Blarney Stone to
ONE Lounge -- which itself
just turned two a short time ago.
Hundreds of guests were treated to a diverse menu of drink specials, as three separate bars spread across both floors of the venue poured a seemingly never-ending stream of festive cocktail, beers, and even the occasional shot (or three).
A roving magician mingled with revelers all throughout the night, as he demonstrated classic card and coin tricks with a well trained sleight of hand. In keeping with the non-traditional nature of the event, ONE Lounge’s bartenders even got into the spirit of things, with the occasional alcohol-fueled pyrotechnic display.
Founded in 1980, The Capital Club is a nationally recognized social club made-up of 100 members from mostly the greater Washington metropolitan area. The 501(c)3 non-profit is committed to supporting a variety of charities and community causes with proceeds from the events that it hosts.
A mission any leprechaun would surely endorse – European or otherwise.
