GEORGETOWN -- The vivid colors that come with warmer weather were on full display Thursday night in Georgetown, as
ReadysetDC hosted the fifth installment of its popular indie designer showcase known succinctly as ‘fashion:district’.
Scrapping the preordained runway presentation that drew focus during prior gatherings, yesterday’s event instead chose to spotlight the latest styles through a more showroom-driven experience. The new format was well suited to this season’s venue of choice: a three story, 7,500-squarefoot warehouse along the C&O Canal known as The Powerhouse.
Seeking to breakup the monotony of the heavily partitioned space, the ReadysetDC team had scattered a smattering of colorfully backlit models throughout the venue (each highlighting an item from one of the participating vendors).
Guests walked away wearing their purchases.
Designers at last night’s event included
Hugh & Crye,
Kelly Tang,
Artaya,
Ginger Root Design,
Read’s Clothing Project,
Aliceanna,
JEM, and
Accoutre.
While shopping the newest spring and summer fashions, guests were treated to a complimentary ‘Fashion District Cocktail’ created by The Gibson alum mixologist
Jon Harris and a variety of savory fare courtesy of
Café Saint Ex,
The Queen Vic,
Vinoteca,
Aaron Silverman, and
Matchbox.
The Powerhouse’s exclusive red carpeted Uber entrance.
Preferred transportation for the event was facilitated by luxe car service
Uber, which provided attendees with a specially discounted rate as well as an exclusive red carpet entrance and complimentary cocktail.
That’s the D.C. creative economy at work!
