GEORGETOWN -- One by one, with a savory taco in one hand and an invigorating shot of tequila in the other, family and friends of
Chef Mike Isabella formally christened the opening his second restaurant,
Bandolero, during a private party on Tuesday night.
Since the brand new eatery
first opened its doors on Thursday, wait staff at the Mexican small plate restaurant has already served hundreds of seatings to lucky Georgetown residents.
But for the restaurant’s formal grand opening celebration, Isabella chose to wait until after many D.C. residents had returned from the Memorial Day holiday weekend. And return they did yesterday evening, as approximately a hundred guests streamed into Bandolero’s darkly lit first floor.
In addition to food and restaurant reporters from a variety of local newspapers, magazines, radio stations, and TV channels, Isabella’s wife,
Stacy, as well as a handful of his reality TV peers stopped-by to fete the occasion, including ‘Food Network Star’ finalist
Chef Malcolm Mitchell and ‘Top Chef’ fan favorite
Chef Jennifer Carroll.
Guests were treated to bottomless glasses of many of Bandolero’s signature cocktails and margaritas, such as the ‘El Dorado (City Of Gold)’ (espolon reposado tequila, cardamaro, st. germain, 5-spice syrup, lemon), and, naturally, plenty of passed small bites, including a trio of taco combinations, empanadas, and lamb sopes.
Modern Mexican cuisine is clearly ready for the taking on M Street!
