Guests enjoy the tongue-tingling sensations provided by the Sichuan buds in Ping Pong Dim Sum's new Tennessee Electric Tea cocktail.
NORTHWEST -- With warmer weather in the forecast for the next few months, the self-described peddler of “little steamed parcels of deliciousness” known as
Ping Pong Dim Sum has rolled out a brand new (Dim) summer cocktail menu at both its Chinatown and Dupont Circle locations.
Most of the restaurant’s new libation lineup are Asian-inspired refreshes of classic bar selections, such as the Chinese Mule, Asian Manhattan, and Earl Grey Julep. But still others demonstrate true innovation by teasing more than the drinker’s sense of taste.
Ping Pong’s new Tennessee Electric Tea, for example, which pairs Jack Daniel’s whiskey, triple sec, and Coca-Cola with a fresh Sichuan flower bud, delivers a memorable tongue-tingling sensation that will brighten the weariest of workday happy hours.
And friends of the restaurant and members of the media were able to witness such reactions firsthand on Wednesday night, as the Dupont branch hosted a special late night happy hour on its spacious patio.
Indeed, the drinks themselves were only perhaps overshadowed by the trail of dumplings that emerged from the kitchen throughout the night and were quickly ravaged by dozens of starving guests.
The savory fare, in its own way, was also after all electric…boogie woogie, woogie!
