The Guest List:
NORTHWEST -- The former residence of the Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. was the center of activity once again on Monday night, as nearly a hundred of the world’s brightest young entrepreneurs and thinkers turned-out for an exclusive dinner reception hosted by Brook Rose Development.

But it wasn’t a formal diplomatic function that brought such notables together, although many had come directly from meetings on the Hill or at the White House. Rather, it was the first D.C. gathering of the invitation-only roundtable known as the Legacy Foundation.

A non-profit entity whose sole mission is to unite some of the world’s budding business, political, and thought leaders, the Legacy Foundation traces its roots back to the Los Angeles business community. It has since exploded in popularity, with roaming gatherings in D.C., New York, and (next time) Silicon Valley.

The guest list to yesterday’s party was decidedly tech heavy in a nod to the enormous role such an industry has had in fostering change and growing the U.S. economy. But the equally important role of politics and “old world” industries, such as real estate and banking, were also well represented, with everyone from former D.C. mayor Adrian Fenty to Special Assistant to the President and Director of White House Digital Strategy Macon Phillips in attendance.

The energy and freedom of discussion that permeated the recently renovated mansion was fueled, in part, by a gourmet cocktail and tasting menu curated by Washington culinary startup The Coterie.

Guests feasted on lemongrass-infused swordfish sashimi, veal Milanese, cigars of wild mushroom, and lamb bifana, while former Gibson manager Jonathan Harris mixed-up a variety of tasty libations.

Laughter and war stories were interspersed with business card exchanges and iPhone “bumping”, as the party lingered on into the night.

Great minds, in addition to thinking alike, know a good party when they see it after all.
