NORTHWEST -- While James Cameron might have commanded attention just days earlier during National Geographic’s annual ‘Evening of Exploration’ gala, it was a different sort of adventurer who turned-out on Friday night to the iconic media company’s headquarters for Brightest Young Things’s latest sold-out party.
Part of BYT’s ‘Local Tourist Series’, which is designed to expose young Washingtonians to some often overlooked nearby museums and locations, the late night (8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) celebration leveraged National Geographic’s storied museum exhibits and venue space to blend a little bit of academia with the requisite revelry.
Here’s what ticketholders got to experience:
A series of live martial arts demonstrations throughout the night.
…some even performed with snazzy glow sticks!
A good guy/girl ratio.
The chance to learn something.
A short-lived cruise of sorts…
All the ‘xorbing’ they could handle.
People dressed-up as shrubbery.
The chance to meet and drink with new friends.
Really cool backlighting.
Live music and comedy.
The chance to mate with a plastic rhinoceros while being cheered-on by your friends.
A whirlwind of emotion.
The chance to jump rope with guys and girls in masks.
…then the opportunity to make cute cat faces for photographers with said masks.
