SOUTHWEST -- Despite the temporary lull in the D.C. mercury level over the past couple of days, warmer temperatures will come roaring back at the tail end of the week. And in order to herald the arrival of summer, ‘Top Chef Just Desserts’ alum and ‘Fan Favorite’
Chef Matthew Petersen has prepared a variety of fun, festive culinary offerings.

Sou’Wester, the Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. hotel’s regional Americana restaurant, everyone will be screaming for ice cream thanks to a collection of new signature sundaes well priced at just $8.

Diners can choose from four initial gourmet offerings, with more to be periodically introduced throughout the summer:
- Banana Pudding: Nilla Wafer, Peanut Caramel, Vanilla Ice Cream
- Strawberry Shortcake: Whole Milk Ice Cream, Strawberry Ice Cream
- Blueberry Cheesecake: Graham Cracker Cookie, Cheesecake Ice Cream
- Rocky Road: Walnuts, Marshmallows, Brownie, Chocolate & Vanilla Ice Cream

Petersen is also, of course, the Pastry Chef over at
Eric Ziebold’s flagship restaurant
CityZen, whose dessert menu will also get sweet refresh for summer. A four-course $25 dessert tasting menu, offered Tuesday through Thursday, is now up for grabs at the award-winning foodie favorite that features the seasonal flavors of the summer bounty.
