SOUTHWEST -- The
Washington Kastles’ victory over the
Boston Lobsters was perhaps a foregone conclusion from the start, but that mattered little to the hundreds of cheering fans who crowded Kastles Stadium at The Wharf on Monday night.

Adding to the excitement, which already was in overdrive for the evening thanks to headlining team player and soon-to-be 2012 Olympian
Venus Williams, was an appearance by the First Family early on in the match.

First Lady
Michelle Obama, along with daughters Sasha and Malia, watched as Williams helped the Kastles rack up an easy pair (5-1 mixed doubles; 5-1 women’s doubles) of doubles wins. But the Obamas were spared the pain of seeing Williams struggle during the singles portion of the match, ultimately losing 5-0 to Boston’s
Irina Falconi.

And just where exactly did Washington’s most famous family head to next? Their caravan of black SUVs actually had but a quick trip ahead of them, as they made the short ride to the Verizon Center to catch the USA vs. Brazil Men’s National Basketball game.

There, they met up with both
President Obama (jeans) and
Vice President Joe Biden (khakis), as well as a sea of cheering red, white, and blue-wearing Washingtonians, during the first half of the eventual U.S. team victory.

But it wouldn’t be a fairytale ending without a kiss now, would it? And the crowd at the Verizon Center demanded (and got) a ‘Kiss Cam’ smooch from the Obamas before they were allowed to leave – although admittedly it took a re-do to persuade the bashful couple.
A great team effort all around on Monday night!
