U STREET CORRIDOR -- Saturday’s anniversary party for the monthly dance party held at U Street Music Hall and put on by All Things Go got started early and stayed wild late.

The 9:30 Club hosted the event and, while not a sell-out, partygoers still filled the place up. With a lineup that danced on the house/DJ spectrum, a youthful crowd was energetic and liquored up. Some concert goers were even removed almost before the party started for purchasing drinks for underage fans.

Vacationer.

The brothers from Wisconsin, Robert and David Perlick-Molinari of French Horn Rebellion put on a raucous performance. It drew high praise from Kenny Vasoli of Vacationer, with him proclaiming they were his new favorite band. Vasoli’s own eco-bro band played a casual summer barbeque set (which is their sound), featuring their trademark hopping, swaying, and wiggling.

POP ETC.

POP ETC finally drew a worthy dance floor crowd and basted them, as they warmed like a Thanksgiving bird. Front man Chris Chu really kept the turkey juice on them, as he hoped off stage and wandered through the crowd, urging them to dance as he performed “Yoyo.”

The Knocks.

The band everyone who gets within ear shot of and then falls for, The Knocks, then came on with smoke billowing and lights beaming from behind them. The two-man, party-prompting powerhouse pushed the dance party to its boiling point.

Mid-way through the set, a cache of beach balls was released from the VIP rafters. And the eager and often unaware concertgoers proceeded to bat the balls around the venue, off one another, and onto the stage.

RAC.

The crowd from 9:30 Club’s upper levels poured onto the ground floor as RAC commanded the stage and prepared to keep the party dancing. Not traditional DJs, RAC “spins” tracks that are not your typical house mixes, with a focus on creating new sounds.

Playing and playing as the crowd thinned, until nearly 3:00 a.m., the guests danced as long as they could. Eventually Kenny and Chris appeared on the floor and danced with the delighted revelers that remained.

When the house lights finally came on and everyone spilled into the cab-less streets, what happened next was, for the first time all night, up to the individual.
