GEORGETOWN -- For the third consecutive year, the Georgetown neighborhood is set to unleash the Washington metropolitan area’s largest
Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) celebration on
September 6th, 2012, with more than a hundred different ways to shop and play (and play while shopping).
Georgetown’s FNO Host Committee.
Initial details about next month’s stylish soiree were unveiled to sponsors and members of the press yesterday evening, during an intimate media gathering held on the second floor and outdoor patio area of the
AllSaints Spitalfields store on M Street.
As in prior years,
Capitol File Magazine and
BrightestYoungThings (BYT) have returned as title sponsors, with the former hosting the night’s exclusive VIP party at luxe
L2 Lounge and the latter a branded relaxation lounge on the Dean & DeLuca patio.
Of course, the real star power of Fashion’s Night Out remains the stores themselves and 100+ Georgetown boutiques, restaurants, and salons have prepared a sartorial smorgasbord of special promotions and events for the occasion.
In-store events run the gamut from a
Washington Post DC Scout styling and shopping party at
CUSP to complimentary facials at
Kiehl’s to an Instagram fashion photo contest at
BCBG to a blowout and lipstick bar courtesy of
Nectar Skin Bar and
IPSA Hair Salon, among dozens of others.
New for this year will be a ‘pre-FNO’ clothing drive organized by BYT and Goodwill DC that will enable shoppers to clean out their closets in advance of their FNO retail therapy binge. Drop-off locations will be made available on Georgetown’s
FNO website in short order.
Also making its debut in 2012 will be a lavish outdoor disco dance floor, which will take over the PNC Bank parking lot. Revelers will enjoy rotating DJ sets by
Fatback, with the commensurate chance to shake their tail feathers accordingly.
Since it was first launched, Georgetown’s FNO has always incorporated a charitable element into the fashionable festivities and next month’s celebration is no exception. Proceeds from the night’s signature t-shirts and tote bags will benefit D.C.-based nonprofit
Vital Voices, which “identifies, invests in and brings visibility to extraordinary women around the world by unleashing their leadership potential to transform lives and accelerate peace and prosperity in their communities.”
The neighborhood’s eateries too are even getting in on the stylish action, with many offering limited time dishes, cocktails, and promotions just for the occasion. Thirsty shoppers will be able to down one of mixologist
Sam Babcock’s ‘Devil Wears Prada’ cocktails at recently opened
Bandolero or a ‘Black Tie’ drink at
Morton’s, for example.
Not sure how to fit it all in? Not to worry. Fortunately, Georgetown’s beloved FNO pedicabs will also be out in full force throughout the evening, offering complimentary rides upon presentation of a receipt to weary shoppers. Upscale car service
Uber will also be offering specials to Georgetown in order to entice residents from around the city to attend.
It’s enough to make any Washingtonian pledge allegiance to the FNO flag, right?
