GEORGETOWN -- A red rope carefully guarded the store entrance just next to the Georgetown Four Seasons on Thursday night, as some of Washington’s most dapper men (and the beautiful women that love them) turned out for the grand opening party of
Suitsupply’s latest retail store.
With other locations in New York and Chicago, Thursday’s bow is the latest move by the Amsterdam-based menswear retailer in expanding its international footprint beyond its primary European roots.
To such an end, spectators also might have noticed the Dutch Olympic team proudly sporting a stylish mini collection by Suitsupply Head of Design
Murray Coetzee during last month’s summer games in London.
The foundation for Suitsupply’s success rests on its nearly myopic focus on combining “craftsmanship with flair” in all of its products.
Indeed, when the
Wall Street Journal did a blind review of six suits for an
article last year, the Dutch clothier tied venerable Armani for first place every time. Oh, and at 15% of its Italian counterpart’s price too…
Thursday night’s grand opening celebration was equal parts shopping and dance parties, with attendees mingling about the store to the beat of a live DJ while simultaneously trying-on shirts and jackets.
In deftly taking down customer measurements and answering questions, the store’s expertly trained staff showed no signs of fatigue despite what must have been an incredibly grueling week leading up to the Georgetown store’s debut.
Definitely one (Suit) supply that will last.
