CHARLOTTE, NC -- Much as they did in
Tampa last week,
Lifetime Television and
Variety came together Wednesday evening at the Democratic National Convention for a private benefit concert designed to improve awareness about the role veterans play in the world today.

Hosted by award-winning actress
Eva Longoria who served as the night’s special guest, yesterday’s late night performance boasted an hour-long set by Florida-based rapper
Flo Rida, whose current hit song “Whistle” now occupies the number one slot on
Billboard’s coveted
Hot 100 list.

While Longoria dazzled the media on the red carpet with her impeccably styled outfit and designer heels, it was comments by the likes of retired
General Wesley Clark and those members of Congress in attendance that truly reinforced the purpose of the occasion, which was to support the role of veterans in both serving and leading their communities across America.

To such an end,
Got Your 6 and
The Mission Continues were designated the beneficiary organizations of the event, with both charged with like-minded missions.

Of course, in order to build awareness about a given cause, one first needs a resounding voice from which to connect with potential supporters. And last night, Grammy Award-nominated Flo Rida happily lent his own personalized and bejeweled microphone to the cause.

After an introduction by Got Your 6 Managing Director
Chris Marvin and The Mission Continues Chief Operating Officer
Spencer Kympton, as well as an impassioned plea for support by Longoria, the hundreds of attendees crowding Charlotte’s
Amos' Southend performance venue were treated to an animated concert that went as far as to draw two lucky fans on-stage and even see Flo Rida take a lap around the floor on the shoulders of one of his roadies.

‘Wild Ones’ to be sure.
