PENN QUARTER -- Guests who managed to score an invitation to
DC Magazine and
Fiola’s joint, end-of-summer bash on Wednesday evening surely found themselves pinching one another upon arrival, to check that it wasn’t all a dream.
Indeed, despite the suggestion that they use their imagination in exploring the rooftop party, the eye candy that greeted them was all quite real.
Fiola co-owner Maria Trabocchi and DC Magazine Publisher Peter Abrahams.
From the exotic
McLaren sports coupe parked at the entrance to the building ($250,000 approximate street price) to the picturesque view of Washington afforded by the rooftop location, yesterday’s intimate affair was a true demonstration of ‘modern luxury’.
The only thing that perhaps managed to overshadow the memorable visual tableau of the scenic soiree were the crisp specialty cocktails carefully infused with
Bombay Sapphire gin – each artfully teamed with a complementary culinary pairing by Fiola’s James Beard Award-winning chef
Fabio Trabocchi.
A chance lunchtime conversation between
DC Magazine publisher
Peter Abrahams and Fiola co-owner
Maria Trabocchi a few months back served as the genesis behind Wednesday’s sunset celebration, with both parties eager to showcase the building’s hidden gem of a roof overlooking everything from the Washington Monument to the National Archives to the Capitol building.
If as Napoleon once said, “imagination rules the world,” then the District is now decidedly replete with happy ruling revelers.
