'Washingtonian' Style Setters Strut Stuff At SAX Fall Fashion Fete

NORTHWEST -- Fashion took a fun twist at sexy SAX restaurant and lounge on Thursday night, as Washingtonian magazine hosted a party in honor of the city’s 15 residents who earned a coveted spot atop the venerable publication’s annual ‘Style Setters’ list.



Colors, patterns, and even textures abounded at the exclusive 11th Street venue, with a parade of some of the District’s best dressed and their friends and family walking the red carpet into the gilded interior.



Inside, Washingtonian Fashion Editor Kate Bennett and Publisher Cathy Merrill Williams deftly mingled with guests for an hour before climbing the mural-lined staircase to SAX’s second story, where a brief presentation ceremony was held.


Between congratulatory conversations with the honorees, guests sipped on complimentary VeeV specialty cocktails, chilled bottles of Peroni beer, and tall glasses of wine.


All the while, a corseted troupe of attendants tended to the famished, with platters of both savory and sweet treats seemingly endlessly emerging from the kitchen throughout the evening.


As one of the posh affair’s premier sponsors, upscale women’s retailer Ann Taylor boasted a strong presence at the stylish celebration, with commanding illustrations of its Fall 2012 collection hanging above SAX’s main bar area and fashionably adorned mannequins carefully spread throughout the space.


For those hoping to continue the party well into future issues of Washingtonian, renowned ocean liner operator Cunard also stood at the ready in encouraging revelers to enter their names into a raffle for a free luxury cruise.


And naturally, for most in attendance, it was a fashionable full steam ahead.
