NORTHWEST -- The sleepy neighborhood surrounding Politics & Prose saw things get Heated on Saturday afternoon, as NBA superstar Dwyane Wade stopped-by the popular independent bookstore/coffee house for an exclusive book signing event.


Lines to meet the athlete/author snaked around the block.
The 8-time NBA All-Star and current Miami Heat player's Washington boondoggle came amidst a promotional blitz touting the popular athlete�s recent memoir: A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger than Basketball.


Released on September 4th under the William Morrow imprint, the 352-page tome reveals Wade�s thoughts on fatherhood, details his personal experiences as a parent, and traces his transformation from being the child of a single parent to now serving as one himself.


The book also features highlights from the shooting/point guard�s storied basketball career -- from his early days shooting hoops in Chicago, to playing at Marquette University, to emerging as an unheralded draft pick to receiving MVP honors in the 2006 NBA Finals.


It�s a story about leading by example, both on the court and off.
