NORTHWEST -- Striking a blow against adverse D.C. weather conditions,
The University Club of Washington, DC held its fourth annual summer rooftop luau on Saturday night, after a more than two-month postponement.
Originally scheduled for July 21st, a torrential downpour that day forced the temporary cancellation of the well-regarded warm weather bash, with this weekend’s soiree serving as the substitute.
While the mercury hovered in the mid ‘70s throughout the event, it nevertheless failed to dampen the tropical spirits of the dozens of Club members and their guests who turned-out on Saturday night prepared to party.
Hawaiian shirts, flowers, and leis decorated the rooftop of the private club, as a live one-man steel drum band provided a soothing soundtrack to accompany the inspiring cityscape views.
A complimentary beer and wine bar greased the wheels of good conversation, although cups of the signature ‘Magnum P.I. Punch’ (Bacardi rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon/lime soda, grenadine) likely proved most popular with guests.
Aloha summer.
