MCLEAN, Va. -- Washington’s most fashion forward were provided plenty to gossip about over the weekend, as
Tysons Galleria hosted the 2012 edition of its annual three-day ‘
ALL ACCESS' fashion and trend event.
In so doing, the luxe northern Virginia shopping mall allowed guests to participate in the excitement and energy of the season's international collections -- an experience normally reserved for industry insiders during the iconic ‘fashion weeks’ held throughout the world.
This year’s ALL ACCESS event kicked-off on Thursday evening with a panel discussion at Tysons Galleria titled ‘Luxury: From Conspicuous Society To Connoisseurship’, which was hosted by
DC Magazine Editor-in-Chief
Karen Sommer Shalett and presented together with
The Fashion Group International of Greater Washington, D.C.
Award-winning costumer designer and stylist Eric Daman.
But the cameras, both figuratively and literally, didn’t start rolling in earnest until Friday’s headlining VIP runway show and reception, with Emmy Award-winning costume designer and stylist
Eric Daman of
Gossip Girl and
The Carrie Diaries serving as guest of honor.
In addition to allowing leading multi-brand specialty retailer
Intermix the opportunity to showcase some of its most crave-worthy product offerings on the runway, the evening served a dual-purpose in launching the brand’s new 1,700-squarefoot Tysons Galleria boutique.
ALL ACCESS: Fashion 2012 then continued all throughout Saturday, with additional runway and trunk shows, designer and celebrity appearances, and branded lounges from the likes of Elie Tahari, Nicole Miller, Zegna, and Ann Taylor, to name but a few participating designers and merchants.
Injecting the celebration with a much-welcomed charitable component, a portion of the day's sales at participating retailers benefited the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the
Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Talking about fashion with a purpose.
