NORTHWEST -- Even when Skyping-in from hundreds of miles away on Tuesday evening, ‘Sandwich King’
Jeff Mauro could hardly contain his excitement over serving as one of the more than half-dozen culinary celebrities to headline this year’s
D.C. Metro Cooking Show, which will fill the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from November 3rd through 4th.
Joining the
Next Food Network Star winner at this year’s foodie extravaganza will be some of the biggest names in the culinary world, including
Giada De Laurentiis,
Jacques Pepin and daughter
Claudine,
Top Chef judges
Tom Colicchio and
Gail Simmons, and
The Chew’s
Michael Symon and
Carla Hall.
Mauro was joining via remote a select group of media types and VIPs at
Cuba Libre last night for a special preview event highlighting next month’s ‘great shopping show’, hosted by Show founder
Denise Medved and Cuba Libre Chef/Partner
Guillermo Pernot.
Nearly 400 specialty food exhibitors will showcase products and drum-up some $2 million worth of sales during the event, which will also boast non-stop activities like ongoing tasting and entertaining workshops and a beer, wine, and spirits pavilion.
Additionally, local and regional chefs – all honored as
James Beard Foundation winners, nominees or guest chefs at The James Beard House in New York, will take the Food Lion-sponsored cooking stage in honoring the foodie-focused non-profit.
Yummy.
