GEORGETOWN -- Beer steins were raised high at Georgetown’s popular restaurant and tavern
George on Thursday evening, as
The Madison hosted its annual Oktoberfest-themed benefit.
Now in its fourth year, the hops heavy celebration attracted dozens of the neighborhood’s finest with the promise of an early open beer bar and plenty of frothy fun.
With attendees happily surrendering voluntary donations to the organization at the door, the evening raised hundreds of dollars in a matter of hours, with all proceeds going to the
No Greater Sacrifice nonprofit organization (NGS) in support of the children of fallen and wounded U.S. Armed Service members.
The occasion also coincided with the recent election of The Madison’s newest board. And while several of the organization’s legacy team stayed-on, the new management structure also welcomed a few new faces to its ranks:
- President: Angie Jusino
- Vice President: Heather Darázs
- Secretary: Kayla Scott
- Treasurer: Lorena Trejo
- Social Chair: Maura McGroarty
- Major Events: Lauren Spivey
- Philanthropy: Allison Prescott
- Sponsorship: Erin Hickey & Kate Howard
- Public Relations: Josie Taylor
- Recruitment: Elizabeth Kane
- Alumni Outreach: Ginni MacNeil
- At Large: Jessica Ann Koontz
- At Large: Cori Sue Morris
- At Large: Sondra Ortagus
- Ex Officio: Erin Hatten & Josie Taylor
Helping The Madisons fete Oktoberfest at George, during a coincidental celebration of its own, was a hefty swath of
Washingtonian magazine’s editorial team, including Editor at Large
Carol Joynt and Associate Arts Editor
Sophie Gilbert, with everyone readily opening their wallets for NGS.
Prost to that!
