SILVER SPRING, Md. -- If you think you’ve never heard of
The Temper Trap, try playing “Sweet Disposition”.
Within the first 10 seconds, chances are you’ll immediately recognize the breakout hit from their debut album, CONDITIONS, released in 2009. Since then, the pace has been anything but slow for these Australian indie rockers.
Their early success turned a lot of ears their way, which allowed them to present their highly anticipated self-titled sophomore album to audiences this year.
The five piece band, led by front man
Dougy Mandagi, seemed in great spirits last Saturday night when they stopped-by
The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland.
True to the group’s roots, Mandagi came out with a boomerang taped to his mike stand. The show then began with the heavy drum beats of two new songs: “Repeater” and “Never Lost”.
Throughout the night, The Temper Trap proceeded to strategically mix their new songs with old, which kept the set flowing well and sparked a planned enthusiastic response when crowd favorites “Lost Love” and Fader” were played.
The band handily displayed their exceptional musical range, including Mandagi’s signature falsetto vocals, which were used in full effect throughout the performance. Impressive to say the least.
And inevitably, the night ended with a massive sing-a-long set to “Sweet Disposition”, which left the crowd singing, dancing and grinning from ear-to-ear.
