DUPONT CIRCLE -- D.C. nightlife will receive a much welcomed infusion of Las Vegas and New York City-style energy this weekend, as luxe new club The Huxley opens its doors to the public just off of Dupont Circle (1730 M Street, NW).

Formerly a television studio, the 4,600-squarefoot space has received a floor-to-ceiling facelift courtesy of the same architectural wunderkinds behind such popular venues as The Gibson, The Brixton, and U Street Music Hall.

Divided into two distinct entertaining areas, each with its own DJ, bar, and ‘look-and-feel’, The Huxley will be able to accommodate just under 300 guests at a time and seeks to transcend traditional Washington nightlife standards by providing the latest innovations, service, and amenities that are commonplace in other cities but sorely lacking locally.

In so doing, owners Ryan Seelbach and Eric Lund hope to gradually ease the District – long noted for its more casual approach to clubbing – onto a grander entertaining plane that better befits the city’s well-educated, worldly, and affluent residents.

Indeed, less than a week after receiving its liquor license, The Huxley has already played host to private events for some of the world’s largest corporations in the financial services and technology sectors.

Even the venue’s restrooms boast luxurious touches, such as marble sinks, expansive mirrors, and designer wall accents.

Part of The Huxley’s plan for a more well-appointed club environment can already be seen in its ‘traditional black tie’ dress code request for its official grand opening celebration tonight. And given the number of prominent Washingtonians expected to be in attendance, the bold will rarely have looked so beautiful.
