French Tuesdays cofounder Gilles Amsallem surrounded by Tuesday's Bond girls at Fujimar.
K STREET CORRIDOR -- Martinis were shaken, weapons (fake) were pulled, and undoubtedly a guest or two found themselves in bed together late Tuesday night, as the international social group known as
French Tuesdays teamed-up with
Fujimar Restaurant to host the official 007 50th anniversary D.C. party.
Held in honor of the newest
James Bond film release,
Skyfall, the party featured complimentary hors d'oeuvres courtesy of Executive Chef
Raynold Mendizabal, Bond girl doppelgangers, and even a live dance performance choreographed to imitate a dangerous spy-on-spy showdown.
Official movie sponsor Heineken was also on-hand, with plenty of complimentary sample brews that were ceremoniously dispatched with a vigor that would make even
Daniel Craig smile.
Founded in 2003, French Tuesdays began as a sophisticated New York gathering that offered an alternative to more traditional nightlife options. It has since gone on to become a virtual international franchise, with subgroups spread-out throughout the globe.
Tuesday’s 007 event, one of only four official parties in the United States, was representative of the type of self-described ‘couture nightlife’ the organization embodies, with a strict black suit/black tie dress code.
Still, much to Goldfinger’s chagrin, no one was expected to die. Only have a good time.
