Soon-to-open Malmaison served as the host venue for yesterday's Don Julio pop-up party.
GEORGETOWN -- The Georgetown waterfront got its very own pop-up
Rock Box on Tuesday night, as GRAMMY Award-winning recording artist
Rev Run of legendary rap group
Run DMC headlined a private tasting party hosted by luxury tequila distiller
Don Julio.
DJ Ruckus and Rev Run.
Indeed, the only thing that might have been louder than the fresh beats emanating from the DJ booth was the sound of glasses clinking together in chorus, as guests enjoyed a steady stream of celebratory tequila shots in addition to tequila-mixed cocktails.
Joining the rapper-turned-reality TV star behind the mixing boards for the evening was Los Angeles-based emcee/producer
DJ Ruckus, who is a New York City and Miami club fixture and even was flown in to spin at one of
Diddy's Moroccon birthday parties while still just a teenager.
The reason behind last night's gathering was nothing simpler than exposing a lucky group of Washingtonians to the Don Julio portfolio of spirits in keeping with the brand's recent "show you know" (
#showyouknow on Twitter) marketing campaign.
Approximately 50 guests were even treated to a gourmet VIP dinner, complete with tequila pairings, of course, prior to the main event, whipped-up by Food Network star
Chef Malcolm Mitchell.
And everyone in attendance was provided with an early preview of the
Popal family's (they also own nearby Café Bonaparte and Napoleon Bistro in Adams Morgan) latest venue, which purportedly will be dessert-oriented in addition to having a complete bar.
Truly, there's no place like Don Julio's home/casa.
