NORTHWEST -- With the
New Year firmly upon the District, the board of the professional, civic, and social organization known as
The Madison has been fast at work reviewing applications from prospective new members.
With membership in the D.C.-based nonprofit strictly limited to 100 members, vacancies are prized commodities among the city's philanthropically minded young women. And after a thorough vetting over the past few weeks, the perseverance of a lucky few finally paid off as The Madison revealed its new 2013 class.
Held inside Dupont Circle hotspot
The Huxley's intimate "Library" space, the all-night welcoming party -- playfully titled 'Meet The Madisons' -- kicked-off with an hour long private reception for members only, which was designed as a sort of meet-and-greet for the old and new guard alike.
Thereafter, the festivities were thrown into full gear with the doors opened to the general public. First and foremost a charitable group, guests were encouraged to donate $10 upon entry, with all proceeds earmarked for The Madison's 2013 charity of choice:
Crittenton Services of Greater Washington.
Crittenton empowers local teen girls to overcome obstacles, make positive choices, and achieve their goals through a variety of in-school, best-practices programs.
And now it has a whole new class of young professionals behind it.
