NORTHWEST -- Some of Washington's brightest and most beautiful got a jump on the holiday proper last night, as The Capital Club hosted its signature 'non-traditional' Saint Patrick's Day celebration inside the walls of popular K Street nightclub Capitale.
With a suggested dress code of 'European leprechaun', attire for the crowded event ran the gamut from Georgetown prep to sexy stilettos and everything in between, with plenty of festive and free holiday flair available for those looking for an extra stylish (and green) swagger.
The Hogwards-meets-Hollywood venue also paid festive homage to the occasion in backlighting its walls green and bringing in a professional bagpipe player, who was almost as good at dodging the bottles of champagne being popped as he was at playing an Irish tune.
Tickets for the evening ran $20 for guys and $10 for girls, with a variety of drink specials available to guests (think Jameson shots for the adventurous and cold beers for those who had an early morning the next day).
Prior to the late night party, members of The Capital Club gathered for a private dinner a few blocks down the street. Shamrock Soiree is especially meaningful to the organization because it's the first event of the year that new members can attend after successfully being admitted.
Originally founded back in 1980, the nationally recognized nonprofit is made-up of 100 members mostly from the greater Washington metropolitan region. As a 501(c)3, The Capital Club is committed to supporting a variety of charities and community causes with proceeds from the events that it hosts.
It's just how the group chooses to spend its pot of gold.
