NORTHWEST -- Fashion Group International's (FGI) reception on Thursday night might not have been located in the lap of luxury precisely, but the $2.5 million home which served as the event's backdrop came pretty darn close.
Hosted by the nonprofit's Greater Washington region subchapter, the posh affair saw more than 50 of the District's most style savvy flock to the Palisades-based property, for the chance to mingle and interact with a panel of the city's influential fashion editors.
The evening's guest speakers included:
Holly Thomas (D.C. Editor,
Refinery 29),
Katie Wilmeth (Senior Editor,
DC Magazine),
Leslie Wooldridge (Senior Editor,
Capitol File Magazine),
Michelle Thomas (Associate Fashion Editor,
Washingtonian Magazine), and
Svetlana Legetic (Founder,
Brightest Young Things).
And the topic at hand was contemporary luxury design. Fortunately, thanks to a partnership with
Michael Hines of
TTR Sotheby's International Realty and
EuroMotorcars Bentley/Rolls-Royce, the reception was overflowing with such posh trappings.
From the property itself to the luxury vehicles parked out front to the cocktail bar located next to the indoor pool, the occasion was one champagne wish and caviar dream after another.
But fun fashion and indulgent luxuries aside, the broader purpose of the night was in keeping with FGI's mission to provide a stage on which a widening awareness of the American fashion business and of women’s roles in that business can be expressed and enhanced.
We're just hoping for an encore performance.
