U STREET -- The vernal equinox last week signaled the start of Spring and, along with warmer weather (soon, we hope), the changing of the seasons also signaled the arrival of
Fashion Washington's latest issue.
Published four times a year, the seasonal magazine owned by Washington Post Media reports on the District's increasingly stylish ways -- be it the city's hottest stores, emerging designers or star-studded parties.
And naturally, Fashion Washington managed to combine all three of these elements on Tuesday evening, as the publication celebrated its new Spring 2013 issue on the rooftop level of U Street's modernly decorated
Room & Board location.
Beyond providing guests the opportunity to mix and mingle with the magazine's editors, the occasion featured an exclusive runway presentation of the spring and fall collection of New York designer
Allison Parris.
The eco-friendly and socially conscious line uses organic silks and fabrics made from recyclable material in each piece, with garments meticulously crafted in factories based within Manhattan. Parris herself was even on-hand after the runway show to answer questions during an intimate interview session.
Attendees to last night's party were treated to complimentary small plates from
Lincoln Restaurant's Corporate Executive Chef
Demetrio Zavala, sweet treats from the
Kalorama Cookie Company, and cocktails mixed with
Little Black Dress Vodka.
All in all, a pretty fashionable way for Washington to 'Spring' ahead.
