NORTHWEST -- While
The Hamilton's underground concert hall consistently plays host to a steady stream of stars (everyone from
Train to
Matchbox Twenty to
Grace Potter), Tuesday evening it was the cavernous venue's second story 'Loft' space's turn to shine.
Indeed, just past 11:00 p.m., under the cloak of darkness, a parade of cast members from the
Warner Theatre's recently opened production of
Love Lies quietly slipped in to the 14th Street restaurant.
The occasion for such a clandestine celebrity gathering? A private meet-and-greet reception hosted by the
Impact Arts + Film Fund, whose mission is to provide a platform through which creative types can better engage the political and policy arena.
And with three Tony Awards already under his belt,
Love Lies producer/director
Hinton Battle served as the perfect contributor to IMPACT's socially-minded and culturally inspired agenda.
The play, which concludes its run at the Warner on Sunday, revolves around the emotional and comedic story of three women who suddenly discover that they were all to be married to the same man before his untimely death. And ultimately, 'bound by the power of truth', they are able to emerge from such deception stronger and even more self-confident.
Because, as the production's tagline states, sometimes the truth just won't do.
