WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Authenticity is a prized selling point touted by many of the District's chefs and no one takes such culinary legitimacy more seriously than the recently launched
Peruvian Brothers food truck.
The four-wheeled entrepreneurial culmination of years of hard work by real life (Peruvian) brothers
Giuseppe and Mario Lanzone, the recently launched venture can already be seen popping-up at various lunchtime hotspots about town, including stops at Union Station and Farragut Square.

With a menu that specializes in sandwiches and empanadas featuring chicharron (pork tenderloin), asado (beef), chicken, and butifarra (pork loin), as well as numerous vegetarian options, Peruvian Brothers spotlights the unique Andean-Spanish-Afro-Peruvian and Asian influences of so-called 'Comida Criolla' cuisine.
Those with a penchant for all things sweet are also in luck, since the family owned and operated food truck will serve-up everything from traditional rice pudding to alfajores, which are soft, dulce de leche-filled homemade cookies. A house Lucuma and Maracuya ice cream tops off the dessert menu.
